Great article, David. Well articulated. It should be obvious that you solicit feedback from people who already like that genre, versus those who can't be paid to read it. But it isn't. Sometimes we just reach out to people we know or are comfortable with. Thanks for the insights.
A lot of times we also solicit feedback from people we know will give us positive affirmation and not genuine feedback. That's why my writing group with Meghan and Garrett has been so beneficial, we established early on that no one is here for a pat on the back, we want to see how we improve.
